The two national shows
The Collectors Nationals moves city to city and is the smaller, more social of the two. The Collectors Convention is the larger event, with a bigger dealer room and more exclusives. Both sell dinner and room packages that gate access to the best exclusives, and both sell out fast after registration opens.
Regional meets and swap shows
Almost every large metro has a monthly or quarterly diecast swap: Southern California, Texas, Chicago, Atlanta, the Northeast corridor. These are where loose collections actually change hands at fair prices, and where you can inspect cars in person before buying — the single best defense against fakes and restorations.

Bring cash in small bills, a magnifier or phone macro lens, protector cases for anything carded you buy, and a written want list so you do not overpay on impulse. Arrive at opening; the good loose bins are picked over within the first hour.

Exclusives are produced in low numbers and dated, which makes them easy to track and easy to price. They tend to peak in the months after the show, then settle.
